Having completed her BS in distributed studies at Iowa State University and her Masters in Physical Therapy at the University of Iowa, Tracy McGowan began her professional career in 1994, working in outpatient rehabilitation for a hospital in Wisconsin.
In 1996, she moved to Florida, where she enjoyed working in a clinic across from the Raymond James Stadium, while rehabilitating from her own ACL reconstruction. She was able to work with some professional athletes from various sports, including football, baseball, golf, and wrestling.
By 1998, Tracy was promoted to coordinating an outpatient clinic in Clearwater for a large corporation. It was during this time, she decided to simultaneously take classes from the University of St. Augustine in their distance education program. She became a doctor of physical therapy and received her manual therapy certification in 2002.
The year 2002 also rewarded Tracy with the title of Mommy for the first time.
In 2003, Tracy decided to work for a private practice, where she was able to work alongside other manual therapists. During this time, Tracy again earned the title of Mommy.
Tracy joined Countryside Institute for Rehabilitation Services in 2006, allowing her to work alongside her mentor, Joe DiGiovanna, with whom she did her residency work for her doctorate.
Dr. Tracy McGowan has 14 years experience working in outpatient orthopedics. Her love of sports and her own personal ACL injury has contributed to her interest in orthopedics. Tracy also has had experience in pool therapy, in women’s health, and working alongside plastic surgeons in wound care.
Currently Tracy has chosen to work part time in the clinic to allow her time with her two children, ages three and five years. |
