Dr. Anne Denys is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and other orthopedic problems. After graduating with honors from the University of Rochester she was awarded a Health Professions Scholarship from the United States Navy and attended the George Washington University School of Medicine. She received numerous honors during medical school including the Julius Neviaser award in orthopedic surgery. After graduating from medical school, she continued at George Washington University for a general surgery internship and orthopedic surgery residency. As a resident she helped care for the varsity athletes and was the team physician for Spingarn High School.
Upon completion of residency, Dr. Denys entered active duty service in the United States Navy and was stationed at Naval Hospital, Camp Lejuene, North Carolina for four years. During this time, she cared for injured Marines and their families and was actively involved with teaching Family Practice physicians and ancillary staff. In addition, she served as team physician to the United States Marine Corps boxing team.
After fellowship completion, she joined the staff at the National Naval Medical Center Department of Orthopedic surgery as a Sports medicine subspecialist. During this time, she served on the faculty as an assistant professor at the Edward Herbert School of Medicine of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. She was actively involved in teaching students, interns, and residents and was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award by the orthopedic residents. Dr. Denys also served as a consultant to the United States Naval Academy of Athletics. |
